Low media exposure in Mundoti

Village On may 3rd conducted a survey by the first-semester students of central university of Rajasthan the department of culture and media studies in Mundoti village, it was observed that the media exposure in the village is relatively low. The availability of newspapers in the village is limited, and the variety of newspapers and languages offered is also limited. This can be attributed to the low literacy rate of the village, which impacts the demand for newspapers. Out of the 500 houses in Mundoti village, only 20 to 30 houses subscribe to newspapers. However, it was noted that the younger generation is getting educated and may have a higher demand for newspapers and other media sources in the future. It is essential to note that access to information and media literacy is crucial for the development of a society. The media plays a crucial role in disseminating information and shaping public opinion. In a democratic society, media freedom and freedom of expression are fundamental rights, and it is crucial to ensure that these rights are protected. Observing the World Press Freedom Day, it is essential to highlight the importance of media literacy and the need for diverse and independent media sources in society. It is necessary to take measures to promote media literacy and increase access to information, especially in rural areas. The government and other stakeholders should work towards improving literacy rates and ensuring the availability of diverse media sources in different languages to ensure that everyone can exercise their right to information and freedom of expression.
